Hello! I'm Linda Nelson, a writer, teacher and lover of good stories. I write mainly for teenagers and young adults and a lot of my stories are inspired by my work with young people. My debut novel, 'Underground,' is due for release in July 2025 and I'm really excited about that!
I work in the field of special education, having taught children and young adults with additional needs for over twenty-five years. I consider myself very lucky to have worked with many amazing and inspiring young people in the course of my work.
After teaching in a range of school settings and Head Teacher for 16 years, my husband and I set up a Community Interest Company providing much needed educational and vocational training for young people who have struggled in mainstream settings. I run this full time, somehow finding time to write in between!
I live in North Yorkshire, where I’m entertained by my cats Maui and Midge. When not writing or working I enjoy reading (obviously!) running (very slowly!) and spending time walking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
From an early age I’ve loved reading and writing stories, often to be found with my nose stuck in a book, lost in other worlds, or with pen in hand making up new worlds of my own. As with many things growing up got in the way and reading and writing made way for a career and a growing family. And although I wouldn’t change a thing there was always that thought ‘one day I’m going to write a book’ – and now I have! Working full time, setting up and running a business and with a family to look after, writing a book was difficult to fit in, but once you’ve been bitten by the writing bug it’s hard to stop. So, an early riser, managing a quick bursting of writing at the start of the day and any other grabbed moments, my book was completed. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
